The therapeutic agent is oral semaglutide (Wegovy pill), a GLP-1 receptor agonist that curbs appetite, slows gastric emptying, and improves blood-sugar handling. LifeMD's role is the service layer: a licensed clinician evaluates eligibility, prescribes the branded drug, and provides ongoing monitoring, dose adjustments, and fulfillment.
Orforglipron is a non-peptide, small-molecule GLP-1 receptor agonist. Unlike semaglutide (a peptide that degrades in the gut and needs special absorption tricks), this small molecule is absorbed normally, so it can be taken without food or water timing rules. By activating the GLP-1 receptor it raises glucose-dependent insulin secretion, slows gastric emptying, and dampens appetite.
Because LifeMD dispenses the same FDA-approved oral semaglutide 25 mg, the expected efficacy mirrors the OASIS 4 trial (NEJM, 2025): roughly 13.6% mean weight loss at 64 weeks (up to ~16.6% with full adherence). The added telehealth coaching and check-ins are designed to support adherence, which is the main driver of real-world results.
In the phase 3 ATTAIN-1 trial (NEJM, 2025; n=3,127 adults with obesity without diabetes), mean weight change at week 72 was -7.5% (6 mg), -8.4% (12 mg), and -11.2% (36 mg) versus -2.1% for placebo; Lilly also reports up to ~12.4% in adherence-based analyses. Nearly 60% on the highest dose lost at least 10% of body weight.
Side effects come from the medication itself, primarily GI effects like nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, and constipation, usually most pronounced during dose escalation. Serious but rare risks include pancreatitis; the drug carries a boxed warning for thyroid C-cell tumors. LifeMD clinicians monitor and adjust dosing to manage tolerability.
Side effects are predominantly gastrointestinal (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, constipation), mostly mild to moderate and concentrated during the titration period. As with the GLP-1 class, rare serious risks such as pancreatitis can occur. Review your medical history with a licensed provider before starting.
As of May 2026, the Wegovy pill runs about $149/month for starter and 4 mg doses (4 mg rising to $199 after April 15, 2026) and around $299/month for higher maintenance doses; Novo's 12-month subscription can save up to $600/year on the pill. A separate LifeMD membership or visit fee applies on top of medication cost. Verify current pricing with LifeMD.
As of May 2026, self-pay pricing starts around $149/month for the lowest dose via LillyDirect; eligible commercially insured patients may pay about $25/month with a savings card, and Medicare Part D beneficiaries may access it near $50/month starting July 2026. Higher maintenance doses may cost more; confirm current pricing at LillyDirect.
Adults with obesity or overweight with a weight-related condition who qualify after a telehealth evaluation in any of the 50 states. The same contraindications as Wegovy apply, including a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN2. A clinician makes the final prescribing decision.
For adults with obesity (BMI >=30) or overweight (BMI >=27) with at least one weight-related comorbidity, alongside diet and physical activity. Standard GLP-1 precautions apply, including screening for thyroid cancer history and pancreatitis. A prescription and clinician evaluation are required.
Foundayo (orforglipron): Foundayo is the first oral GLP-1 you can take whenever and however you want, which removes the single most annoying barrier of pill-based GLP-1 therapy, even if its peak weight loss sits a notch below the strongest injectables. Both are strong options — match the pick to your specific needs, budget, and clinician's guidance.
